Cordless Tools
There are many benefits to using cordless tools!
Convenience, of course, is a big benefit with cordless tools. Just think of it: no more dragging around heavy, cumbersome electrical cords for your power tools. Besides being awkward to work around, electrical power cords can be dangerous and have caused many an accident when an operator tripped or got snarled up in a cord, or actually sawed through one.
So, safety is a definite benefit that comes with using cordless tools.
The next major benefit to using cordless tools is freedom. Before the advent of cordless tools, there was virtually no way to use power tools at a remote job site without electricity. However, cordless tools have made that a thing of the past. Just charge your batteries and go wherever you need to work---with or without power!
Now, moving right along to yet more benefits of cordless tools, we come to operator fatigue. Operator fatigue is responsible for many accidents in the work place. Cordless tools are lighter weight and less bulky than their corded counterpart, so operator fatigue is lessened considerably. This helps to avoid accidents and also makes for a more pleasant and less tiring work experience for the user of cordless tools.
Cordless tools, being lighter in weight and hence easier to use, will often cut down on man power needed for a particular task or project. This can cut way down on overhead when you are the contractor or boss who will be paying everyone.
Are you conscious of a need to help protect the earth? If so, you will appreciate the fact that cordless tools are more environmentally and earth friendly because they don't use as much power and require no fuel to run on. This is a big plus to many people!
Cordless tools first came into being back in 1961 and was invented by Robert Ridley, Jr while working at Black & Decker. Mr. Ridley was attempting to solve a knotty problem of on site power for a project that involved the installation of aluminum windows. He developed a drill that would run on batteries, eliminating the workers to do the work without access to electricity. A patent application was filed in 1961 and granted in 1965. So, Black and Decker debuted the first cordless drill to the market in 1961 and followed in 1962 with the first cordless outdoor tool: the cordless hedge trimmer.
Since then, cordless tools have come a long way!
