What are Plate Joiners?
Plate joiners, sometimes referred to as a wood joiner or biscuit joiner, are wood tools commonly use to join two pieces of wood together. They use small circular saw blades to cut crescent shaped holes in opposite edges of two pieces of wood. These holes may be called the “mouths.” An oval shaped, dried and compressed wooden “biscuit” is covered with glue and placed into the slot. Alternatively, glue may be applied in the slot itself. The biscuit is immediately placed into the slot, the two pieces of wood are then clamped togethe and the wet glue expands the biscuit which further strengthens the bond.
