Rural Fencing
Rural Fencing
As the old saying goes: Good fences make good neighbors, and that is just as true with rural fencing as in a modern subdivision with houses crowded in close to each other and very little privacy. In fact, since many rural homesteads have animals such as sheep and cattle that must be contained to prevent damage to neighboring farms or ranches, you might say that rural fencing is even more critical than the chain link or white picket fences commonly used in suburbia.
There are various types of rural fencing, as well as the different accessories and supplies that are needed for each sort. Within these pages, you will find a great selection of high quality rural fencing, suitable to your needs whatever they may be.

About Barb Wire
Barb wire, or barbed wire as it is commonly called, has its roots back in the days of the American Old West. Before barb wire, livestock such as cattle, sheep, horses and others were free to range wherever they wanted to go. Wooden fencing would have been horrendously expensive and difficult to maintain, not to mention its scarcity due to few trees growing on the plains and prairies. Ditto for rocks for stone walls. So, when barb wire came along, it was a good solution to the problem faced by ranchers and farmers who wanted to keep their own animals in and other animals out. Barb wire is still widely used today and is an economical, effective and easily maintained type of fencing.
About Chicken Wire
Chicken wire is lightweight and flexible, made from hexagonal gaps. Besides being used to keep poultry contained in rural fencing, chicken wire is also used in concrete and plaster work in a process called stuccoing. It is inexpensive rural fencing.
About Dog Mesh
Although not as sturdy as chain link, dog mesh will serve as adequate rural fencing for all bu the largest breeds of dogs. Like chicken wire, dog mesh is inexpensive rural fencing.
About Electric Fencing
Electric fencing is inexpensive and easy to erect, as well as being quite effective. We sell both the wire and the equipment needed to use electric wire as rural fencing.
About Hinge Joint Wire
Hinge joint wire is often used in rural fencing where there are larger animals that are prone to lean or rub against a fence, or actively attempt to push the fence down in order to get out. The hinged joints make it stronger and sturdier.
About Rabbit Fencing
Rabbit wire mesh is more commonly used in rural fencing to keep wild rabbits out of your garden, ornamentals, fruits and so on than to keep rabbits in. Many people use this type of rural fencing to protect vegetable gardens from damage by wild rabbits.
