Tool Belts and Bags
It would be virtually impossible to work on any building project without tool belts and bags to hold all of your tools, equipment and accessories.
Tool belts and bags are often the unsung heroes of the job site. Can you imagine lugging each of your tools, one by one, from your workshop to your vehicle and then from your vehicle to the work site? Or maybe trying to carry heavy tools around in plastic grocery bags or paper sacks? What a disaster! So, having the right tool belts and bags can save many a wasted step back and forth to your toolbox, plus a lot of time and energy.
Choosing the Correct Tool Belts and Bags
Having just the right tool belts and bags is like having handy assistants right there working with you....someone who knows exactly which tool you will need and when. Before buying tool belts and bags, ask yourself these simple questions:
- What types of bags are on the market?
- What types of pouches can be used for storage?
- How are different tool belts configured and designed?
- What other devices can you use to keep tools handy when you need them?
- What special features would you like to have in tool belts and bags?
There is a huge variety of tool belts and bags to choose from, so perhaps your most important consideration before buying will be to determine the applications you will mainly be using these things for. For example, roofers might need different types of tool belts and bags than someone who does masonry work. Normally, you will find tool belts, bags and pouches. These things may be made from a variety of different materials and be designed differently according to their intended use.
Tool Bags
Tool bags are often made from leather, burlap or nylon and may be used for special sets of tools, such as ratchet or drill sets. Some bags can be attached to belts for greater convenience on the job.
Tool Pouches
Pouches are often constructed of saddle leather for durability. Specialized pouches, like electrician's pouches, are designed for specific tools. Anchored pouches are usually present on aprons and some belts. Moveable pouches, also commonly referred to as tool rigs, are frequently used in conjunction with tool belts. Pouches commonly include hammer loops and other handy features.
Tool Belts
Tool belts are usually fastened with notches or clips and have padding that makes them more comfortable for the wearer over long periods of use. Belts are commonly made from leather, cloth, nylon or canvas.
